Parents

Skyline Church is deeply committed to coming alongside parents to equip them in their role as spiritual leaders of their families. We do this by providing encouragement, training, and resources.

We know parenting is hard, and being an intentional spiritual leader for your child is even harder! We hope to encourage you in the ups and downs of raising your children, whether it's through lunch, coffee, a helpful article, a class, a parenting small group, an email, prayer, or an encouraging sermon.

Parent Path

We believe parents are the primary spiritual leaders of their children. Parents who are spiritual leaders have hearts that ABIDE in Jesus daily, make an intentional effort to CREATE A CULTURE OF GRACE in their home, and BUILD DISCIPLESHIP CIRCLES in the lives of their children.

We call this journey the Parent Path:

  • Abiding is being connected to the vine. Jesus says, "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples … You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit - fruit that will last.” (John 15:5-8)

  • By Creating a Culture of Grace, parents connect with their children in a way that helps them more easily connect with the heart of God. Parents are to be ambassadors of God's grace in the way they love, forgive, communicate, and discipline. In a Culture of Grace, parents understand that we all–kids and adults alike–are in process and have not arrived at perfection.

  • In building a Discipleship Circle, parents intentionally surround their children with a circle of trusted people who love them, love Jesus, and are committed to investing in their child through purposeful interactions. The church is one of the best places for parents to draw from in creating these circles.
